About Pro Garage Gear: The Anti-Marketing Manifesto
We founded Pro Garage Gear for one simple reason: We were tired of bad advice.
If you search for “Best Garage Opener” or “Best Epoxy Floor,” you get the same 10 articles written by people who have never held a wrench. They recommend the product with the highest commission, not the one that actually works.
We are different.
Who We Are
We are a small team of Engineers, Detailers, and Obsessive Mechanics. We don’t care about “marketing specs.” We care about physics.
- We know that “Lumens” are a lie if the CRI is too low to see swirl marks.
- We know that a “60,000 lb” floor tile rating is useless if the concrete underneath cracks at 4,000 PSI.
- We know that 14-Gauge extension cords kill power tools.
Our 3 Rules of Review
We operate under a strict “Anti-Marketing” code of ethics.
Rule 1: Physics > Marketing Manufacturers love buzzwords. We ignore them. We look at the copper wire gauge, the chemical composition of the soap, and the amp draw of the motor. If the math doesn’t add up, we don’t recommend it.
Rule 2: The “Buy Once, Cry Once” Philosophy We will never recommend a $200 pressure washer just because it’s cheap. We know it will break in 13 months. We prefer to recommend the $1,200 tool that you will leave to your children. We respect your wallet enough to tell you the truth: Cheap tools are expensive.
Rule 3: No “Sponsored” Reviews We do not accept free products in exchange for positive reviews. If a manufacturer sends us gear, we tell them up front: “We are going to stress test this. If it breaks, we are going to publish the video of it breaking.”
Our Testing Process (The “Stress Test”)
We don’t just unbox items. We live with them.
- The “Winter Bomb” Test: We freeze pressure washers to see if the manifolds crack.
- The “Hot Tire” Test: We park hot SUVs on floor tiles to check for expansion buckling.
- The “Voltage Drop” Test: We measure the actual power delivery at the end of 50ft cords.
